Otago Polytechnic Auckland International Campus
New Zealand - Auckland
I have taught a wide range of courses in computing and engineering at universities and polytechnics in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and the USA. I am passionate about making changes in the education sector and have successfully transitioned from teaching to facilitation of learning. I combined project-based learning, just-in-time learning and collaborative knowledge building with the Māori concepts of waka (we are in this together) and whānau (family, looking after each other) and ako (to learn and to teach) to evolve a highly successful way of facilitating learning. My students present their projects to faculty and defend their work thus negating the need to check for plagiarism. All assessments contribute to learning. I have over 60 publications in computing and education.
