Libraries, Accessibility and Online Education
The University of Hawaii at Manoa library has created an online guide suggesting resources to assist educators improve their courses accessibility to students who with sensory disabilities or technological limitations. A survey of faculty reveals the need for additional support and increased awareness of need for clear instructions for use of electronic resources with universal learning tools. The creation of this resource has proven to be more difficult than anticipated. Electronic resources instructions provided on their sites were out of date, inaccurate or no information was provide. The library has had to continually troubleshoot to create the instructions for access to online resources. To do this we have ourselves used Screen reader software or used the resources without a mouse and then documented our experience to help the users
