Framework to Support Individual Learners in Diverse Learning Ecosystems
This paper reports on a framework for supporting learners in learning ecosystems. Broadly learning ecosystems are comprised of an environment of media for the mediation of learning content and the tools to support another key construct, interactions. They are complex and dynamic environments that lend themselves well to open and emergent learning. The framework is placed within such learning ecosystems and is intended to provide a basis for the design of learning activities that make use of the open nature of learning ecosystems, but provide closer support for learners in their work. Interactions are defined learner-centrically in terms of how the learner is engaged with a given activity and the environment is considered to be in flux, to a lesser or greater degree, something that is influential in how learning content is generated and used.
