Application of a Digital Microscope to General Education to Activate Students’ Multiple...
This article is to report results of the latest experiment in which we explored ways to develop a dynamic use of a digital microscope in science class for elementary school students. We recognized the necessity of taking students’ stage of cognitive readiness into consideration, needless to say their needs and interests. With the previous findings in mind, in the current experiment of 2011, we set a goal to verify that a deployment of a digital microscope would contribute to activate students’ multi-dimensional aspects of intelligence as well as to increase their interest in science. In the assessment of the results, we carried out a questionnaire survey. As for the analysis of the descriptions of the objects written before and after the experiment, we used KH Corder (ChaSen). The quantitative analysis of the descriptions indicates that their post descriptions are more creative using more different words and expressions.
