How have other academics successfully used project-based learning to improve the skills of IT students for the IT industry?

In which ways do other academics promote an understanding of research methods, such as design science research, among their IT students?

From a student's perspective, throughout my degree most lecturers only promoted understanding of research methods through projects and tests. From the tests students learned the theoretical part of the research methods and how they could be implemented within the projects provided. The projects thought students how to practically implement the research methods by stepping through all the phases, researching the phases and learning the pros and cons about the methodology, which promoted a better understanding of the research method implemented.

Hi Esronique Thank you for your reply. Do you think you would be able to use this research method in your future career? JT

Most definitely. As a software developer the methodology used for the paper is most ideal for a junior developer that is fresh from university.
