Abstract: We started our Computer Technology Essentials Classes in a face-to-face format. However, due to the rapid expansion of the COVID-19 virus in our region, we moved to online classes. In this online class, we use the video conferencing system Google Meet, the communication tool Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Office to conduct exercises. The students use their own laptop computers (BYOD) to do class exercises, but they feel inconvenience to use three software on their single laptop. Therefore, we repeatedly recommend them to use external monitors. We are conducting this class, and we will report how students place their textbooks, notebooks, and the softwares on their own laptops, desks, and external monitors to take online classes. Students also take pictures around their desks and submit them. Of the 185 respondents in the May 2021 survey, 35 (19%) were using external monitors for Google Meet. A small number of students were also using tablets or smartphones. We will do more research in July and clarify the actual situation of students' online class environment.
