Abstract: This best practices paper explains how to engage middle and high school students through the theory of communities of practice (CoP) while using Google Jamboard to engage students in the prewriting process in a traditional or digital classroom setting. Participants will understand how to integrate CoP into their classrooms. In tandem with putting the Communities of Practice theory into practice, participants will also be exposed to using the Google Jamboard as a mainstay in their writing classroom.
