Abstract: The global health pandemic in early 2020 transformed teaching, learning, and service in higher education in ways that were not envisioned, particularly in the use of digital communication technologies. Even though the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) was steadily gaining momentum over the years, continuing with educational programming during the pandemic, particularly in less resourced countries, allowed for a lifestyle change regarding supplementing portable institutional technologies with personal devices for learning, teaching, and work-related responsibilities. This reflection highlights opportunities for higher education institutions to consider policies that meet the unique needs of target audiences.
