Who do you follow?: Social media and educational technology
Abstract: While educational technology has been examined for its uses in the classroom, the modern educator has not been asked extensively about how they source, use, or curate their supplemental classroom technology. With the rise in social media use as a resource, this research proposes a survey that examines three elements: pre-service teacher’s willingness to utilize educational technology, the use of social media by the participants, and their perceptions of credibility in those social media sources when gathering information about educational technology. This study seeks to explore how pre-service teachers engage with educational technology content and how that may impact their feelings toward using education technology (EdTech) in their own classroom. This examination could provide a better understanding of how future educators view EdTech and how they find credible information regarding technology to implement in their classroom.
