Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to explore the significance of course interface design in online courses, including elements such as navigation, layout, and consistency. Additionally, this paper will discuss Virginia Commonwealth University’s implementation of course templates as a means of ensuring consistency in interface design across courses and programs. It will examine VCU’s process of developing and implementing these course templates, as well as the benefits to instructional designers, faculty developers, and students.
