Abstract: With the rapid development of science, technology, and artificial intelligence, artificial intelligence course has been gradually incorporated into the primary education of countries worldwide. Solving the problems of simple technology stacking, scattered project development, lack of intelligence interest, and insufficient discipline integration in the traditional teaching of the artificial intelligence course is a vital difficulty in the current research of artificial intelligence education. Based on the concept of STEAM, this study integrates design thinking and complex learning design to build an instructional design model of the artificial intelligence course for junior high school students. Through case design and empirical study, the model's effectiveness is verified. The experimental results show that the artificial intelligence course teaching based on the STEAM concept can help improve students' interest in learning and improve cooperation, problem-solving, innovation, and interdisciplinary integration thinking and ability.
