Research on the Construction and Application of Project-based STEM Model Based on Computational Thinking
Abstract: Computational thinking is a necessary quality of intelligent talents in the era of artificial intelligence. Exploring the value of computational thinking with solving problems as the core, improving the cultivation effect of computational thinking, which has become the focus of current information technology course research and practice. As a significant way to cultivate students’ computational thinking ability, project-based STEM teaching aims to apply interdisciplinary knowledge to solve real situation problems. Integrating the existing experience of project-based STEM teaching design, research constructs the project-based STEM teaching model based on computational thinking, carries out "Steam Boat" case teaching activities by using para experimental research method, evaluates students' computational thinking ability by comprehensive questionnaire survey and interview methods. Results show that the project-based STEM teaching model significantly improves students' computational thinking level, and has a positive role in promoting students’ learning interest and motivation. Finally, combining with the teaching effect, this paper puts forward three improvement strategies. This study provides a theoretical basis for the construction of a new teaching model and a practical reference for improving students’ higher thinking ability.
