Abstract: As technology increasingly underpins society, preparing students to understand and create computational artifacts is a democratic imperative. Thus, teachers must be prepared to teach computer science. Many states are aggressively developing or adopting policies and standards for K-12 CS education. Forty-one states currently have CS teacher certification, but only 21 states have institutions of higher education that offer state authorized preservice programs (Code.org State of CS 2021 report).
