How Users Seek Computational Thinking Resources on Teachers-Pay-Teachers: A Review-Based Content Analysis

Abstract: Teacherpreneurship plays a vital role in educational transformation or innovation. Teachers-Pay-Teachers is one of the most popular online educational marketplaces and communities of practice. Teachers from different education levels frequently consult for acquiring resources and advice related to their profession. However, a limited number of studies have investigated the use of this online community to support Computational Thinking innovations. Through a qualitative content analysis of 258 reviews on Computational Thinking resources, this study establishes a framework consisting of seven dimensions (Competence, Ease of Use, Reliability, Access, Responsiveness, Emotional Appeals, Others) and 15 sub-dimensions that influence users’ evaluation of the resource quality. The review’s analysis showed challenges like the lack of appropriate resources, the need to accommodate diverse learning modalities and technologies, the existence of fake ratings, and overpriced resources. This study has implications for current educational practices and future studies in Computational Thinking education and the development of teacherpreneurship.
