Abstract: In this symposium we will present practical examples of technology integration in early childhood settings (birth to grade 3) from the book “Handbook of research on empowering early childhood educators with technology”. This book is intended to share lessons learned from teacher preparation programs, professional development units, and early childhood programs and schools across the United States including topics of literacy, distance education, quality, virtual learning, program completion, infants and toddlers, reflective practice, nature-based learning, place-based learning, computational thinking, and writing. The symposium will cover many of these topics and highlight the following themes: preparing future teachers to use technology, professional development to support educators as they use technology and a teaching and learning tool, and applying technology to early childhood settings to enhance children’s development and learning.
