How to Embed Content in Canvas Content Pages

Abstract: Most universities provide a plethora of software applications that instructors have access to create instructional materials. You do not need to know how to program to add HTML embed code to a Canvas course. The embed code can be copied and pasted in the content areas through the rich content editor. Discussions, announcements, assignments, and assignment pages are potential areas where content can be embedded. Several advantages include the ease of sharing files, version control, and automatic updates help you manage the content in your course. Additionally, Canvas file quotas are not affected, and it is easy to access for the instructor and students. In this session, participants will explore examples of embedded files, videos, presentations, and interactive content. You learn how to locate and add embed code from multiple web applications. You will come away from this session, both informed and inspired. The objectives include how to find, copy, and paste embeds code to a course, and identify potential web applications that easily embed in Canvas. This session is an engaging session that is suitable for all skill levels.
