Abstract: In this best practice presentation, we ground our practical discussion in theoretical background on creativity and design, and then instantiate this in a best practice case scenario of an instructional design course built on teaching instructional designers to develop creative flexibility and designerly ways of thinking. We provide an overview of a case from our professional practice, in which iterative thinking and reflective design practice was paired with creativity to support ID students and prepare them for real world creativity.
