Abstract: This paper provides the initial findings of a discourse analysis of educational policy in the American education system during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a focus on the representation of students of color as a part of best practice guidelines. This project emerged as a response to the social distancing measures enacted across the United States to minimize the transmission of COVID-19, which has led to many students and teachers needing to work from home under emergency remote teaching conditions.
