Poster: Asynchronous Fan Fiction Book Club: A COVID PDS Partnership

Abstract: With COVID 19 highlighting a new set of skills vital for teachers, this project sought to prepare preservice teachers for virtual instruction by developing an asynchronous fan fiction club. In partnership with our local professional development school, the preservice teachers developed a series of virtual lessons on how to write fan fiction. Students in grades 3-5 were recommended by their teachers and those who were interested were given a backpack full of supplies needed including a novel, a blank book, pencil, and art markers. Feedback from the students and preservice teachers will be discussed.
