Share Paper: Integrating Technology in Online Education to Foster Student Success

Abstract: Being surrounded by technology and the needs of the 21st century workforce causes an implicit and explicit expectations that colleges and universities incorporate more technology into classes across modalities. Technology allows students to take online courses on Learning Management Systems (LMSs) and view video and audio instructional materials as many times as they need. This article applies John Dewey’s ideas from his Social Activism Theory, Albert Bandura’s Social Cognitive Theory, and Lev Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development to support the use of technology in the classroom.
