Abstract: This paper describes how the authors incorporated instructional design factors and teaching and facilitating strategies derived from the Learning by Design (LBD) framework to teach robotics in a synchronized online environment to inservice teachers with little or no robotics experience. The results demonstrate that the teachers increased their self-efficacy about robotics knowledge and confidence in applying robotics in their teaching. Further, a qualitative analysis of participants’ reflection papers showed that the teachers developed and applied problem-solving and collaboration strategies to improve robotics open-ended projects.
