Abstract: As the Covid-19 pandemic forced many educational institutions to transition rapidly to remote instruction, resources to prepare faculty to teach online needed to be created in order to help faculty navigate this unprecedented event. Within days of a large, public university's announcement that it was transitioning to remote instruction, a team of instructional designers created a two-week faculty development course that covered best practices for teaching online in the context of Covid-19 circumstances and emergency remote instruction. This paper reflects on the best practices that influenced the course's development and its revision as it was offered iteratively throughout summer 2020.
