Abstract: The purpose of this action research study is to create an application system as a tool and materials for training tour-guiding in English using robots combined with artificial intelligence and virtual reality technologies. A pilot experiment was conducted to examine learner engagement in using a robot for training. Two college students were invited for training and an interview was conducted after the training. Students indicated an interest in learning with a robot and they both agreed that such learning supported their learning goals. The implication of the study is that technological advancement has brought opportunities and challenges to educational innovation; accordingly, teacher education should be provided to explore the potential of such technology in enhancing student learning and to assist teachers in developing their courses.
