Abstract: The days of strictly formal, classroom-based training are over. Learning in the workforce now comes in multiple forms, including self-regulated learning online due to Covid-19. Teachers can introduce dashboards to students so they can excel at self-regulated online learning when they enter the workforce. Companies can currently capture big data from online learning, but they face challenges when interpreting it. Dashboards are a learning analytics tool that can support self-regulated learning and present data visually in a user-friendly format. Although research on dashboards exists, there is little empirical evidence for workplace learning. This literature review is the first phase for a planned research study. Future directions include measuring student perceptions of dashboards and determining preferred features. It will later test if an increase in dashboard usage leads to an increase in engagement. This can benefit the student by promoting independence and confidence when it comes to learning in the workplace.
