Abstract: Higher education institutions do not adequately prepare students with the most sought-after soft skills (e.g., creativity) needed for post-graduation success. By researching the effectiveness of creative assignments in higher education courses, the authors demonstrate the benefits of offering creative assignments to increase individual creativity. Because creativity is the single-most in-demand soft skill for companies to cultivate in their employees, offering assignments that foster students' creative skills will potentially affect their future workplace position. Creative assignments that utilize creative technology tools increase a student's creative skills while meeting learning objectives.
