Abstract: Massive Open Online Courses have accelerated the development and reform of higher education in China, but the further development of online open courses in the new era still faces many challenges. Especially in the context of the current global COVID-19, the widespread use of online video courses makes it more urgent for teachers to design excellent online learning resources to enhance the in-depth integration of curriculum teaching and information technology. Based on Richard Meyer's multimedia learning theory, this study compares the principles of multimedia design and finds out various problems existing in Chinese online courses, such as neglecting instructional design, improper use of auxiliary text, insufficient online classroom interaction and insufficient after-class feedback. Try to work out the design framework of online video courses in line with the current educational background to ensure that learners can learn more high-quality online video courses.
