Abstract: The focus of this research project was to examine how introducing elementary-aged students to computer science (CS) concepts and coding skills via problem-based learning (PBL) impacted students’ knowledge of CS concepts and skills as well as students' attitudes towards CS. Results suggest that students’ knowledge of CS concepts and their skills with regard to coding increased after completion of the PBL unit. In addition, students demonstrated increased attitudes towards CS and discussed their desire to participate in CS coursework/activities in the future.
