Abstract: This paper analyzes the process of Computational Problem Solving (CPS) in terms of the synergistic relationship between computational thinking and creative thinking, and attempts to determine how the process can be improved. In the proposed Computational Problem Solving framework, both computational thinking and creative thinking are viewed as cognitive tools that expand the knowledge and skills that one can apply to a problem. The paper focuses on the general framework for computational problem solving which involves the following sequence of steps: understanding the problem; determining the tools, techniques, and resources needed; designing an algorithm; verifying the algorithm’s correctness; and implementing ...
