Abstract: The pedagogical practice of problem-based learning (PBL) has early ties to medical education. PBL was designed to give pre-clinical medical students hands-on experience in solving a real-world problem. The pedagogical model was eventually adopted by varying non-medical disciplines based on research indicating substantial experiential learning benefits evidenced by PBL learners. Hypermedia is the combination of text, audio, images, animation, and hypertext to create a multimedia-rich, web-based learning environment.
