Share Paper: Measuring Student Success, Equity, and Access within MCC Z-Degree Courses

Abstract: This project involves researching student success in the courses of the Z-Degree Program at Mesa Community College (MCC). The Z Degree or “Zero-Textbook-Cost Degree” enables students to complete an online associates degree from MCC without paying for textbooks. These courses leverage use of Open Educational Resources (OER) instead of requiring students to purchase expensive textbooks and publisher materials. I am researching completion, non-completion, and attrition in MCC Z-Degree courses in order to determine if there are differences of student success in Z-Degree courses compared to non-Z-Degree courses.
