Tuesday, March 19 1:45 PM-2:45 PM
This session will explore the need for creativity in teacher preparation programs. It will take participants through the process of developing preservice and in-service teachers' technological creativity. Teacher Education programs are at the core of preparing new educators. Many programs instruct pre-service and inservice teachers using traditional methods. Often these methods lack creativity in structure and execution. The learning process is constructed with the teacher as the center and the students engaged solely in direct learning practices that inhibit diverse thinking. This session will explore creativity in teaching and learning using technology in relation to teacher education candidates at the graduate level. The session will demonstrate the process by which pre-service and inservice teachers are taught to think creatively about their instruction utilizing varied technological tools and the process engaged in to help them develop a creative framework for teaching. Additionally, the pros and cons of technology creativity will be addressed within the framework of 21st century skills.
