Abstract: The number of students taking online courses has continued to expand rapidly over the last decade (Allen and Seamon, 2009). Although there has been great progress and success with online learning, many challenges remain (Cho, 2012). Research by Nye (2015) contends there is positive value and outcome derived through engagement in an online community, which can yield an academic community of practice.
