Abstract: This virtual brief paper establishes a foundation and case for the implementation of a pilot program for students ages 5-12 in grades K-6 attending a rural, Midwestern, parochial school district. Particular emphasis is on integrating a cross-disciplinary Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STREAM) weekly “special” in addition to art, music, and gym. The program brings together a variety of community stakeholders including students, teachers, parents, administrators, university faculty, teacher candidates, and area businesses/engineers. This paper is a work-in-progress that will be part of a potential larger study.
