Am I still good online? Examining the differences in pedagogy and personality between mediums
Based on an analysis of seven semesters of qualitative student course comments, differences in instructor style and pedagogy can be seen between online and face-to-face sections. This inquiry explores how authentic relationships with students and instructor personality may be impacted by the medium in which we teach. As a result, the rapport built with students may impact student engagement, retention, and student-teacher connection (Glazier, 2016). This brief paper outlines the analysis of student comments and provides suggestions for addressing the pedagogical challenges that exist between course delivery methods.
