Take the da Vinci Challenge
Abstract: In an effort to encourage students to go above and beyond classroom expectations and establish a habit of lifelong learning, teachers are empowered to use blended and flipped learning strategies to design a “Leonardo da Vinci Challenge” for their students to complete. Points are earned as students use technology tools to explore science, engineering, art, and math connections to the past, present, and future – and challenge themselves through a variety of self-paced activities including investigation, experimentation, problem-solving, invention, interviews, readings, writing, web adventures, research, memorization, presentation, field trips and virtual fields. Upon earning 1000 points, students will qualify for the da Vinci Challenge Award! Students will use a da Vinci Challenge folder with a da Vinci point menu and check-off sheets. Family members may be invited to participate and learn along with their child. There is no limit to the number of da Vinci Challenge points students may accumulate in a year.
