As K-12 students and schools embrace emerging technologies, teachers are now more adept at the use of technology and are now moving toward the focus of technology integration using the TPACK model. In response to this, North Carolina has implemented Digital Learning Competencies for all educators. These competencies focus on the integration and creation of technology tools to foster effective, high quality, digital learning experiences. Using gaming, simulations and mixed reality tools to create digital experiences that immerse learners, educators can integrate technology to meet the Digital Learning Competencies through the use of the TPACK model. The creation of Choose Your Own Adventure Simulations, allows teachers an innovative and creative way to demonstrate their ability to utilize and integrate technology tools to encourage their students to explore their interests while mastering the content.
