Abstract: This paper seeks to understand pre-service teachers’ perspective on one specific Internet of Things (IoT) device. For the purpose of the paper, we will focus on Google Assistant. While many classrooms, particularly special education classrooms, have teaching assistants, I examine the use of Intelligent Personal Assistants (IPAs) in the classroom to serve as the teaching assistants we are all familiar with in traditional classroom settings. This paper reports the preliminary data collected on pre-service teachers’ perception in integrating voice assistant technology in their current specialized content or their future classrooms.
