Share Paper: Delivering Comprehensive Special Education Services in Rural America Through Technology

Abstract: Rural schools face challenges in serving children with comprehensive needs who occur in small numbers that reduce the likelihood of staff trained to work with various disorders and intensities of conditions as well as the requisite materials and equipment needed. The concept of portability of services is required by special education law and court decisions mandating services delivered to children in their home communities rather than shuttling kids to concentrated centers.
