Abstract: Today's universities operate in extended ecosystems that are no longer constrained to the on-campus physical space. Students and faculty are becoming more diverse and scholarship is relying more on access to knowledge worldwide. Constructivists describe learning as a social, interactive process with students constructing knowledge by verbalizing ideas to one another, contributing to the process, and reacting to others. Yong Zhao (2009) identifies four challenges for educators: 1) understand and harness entrepreneurial spirit; 2) foster student autonomy and leadership; 3) champion inventive learners; and 4) develop global partnerships and resources.
