Abstract: Changes in the ICT curriculum (now including coding, computational thinking...) as well as raised expectation about the use of ICT in all teaching creates a major problem for those responsible for training teachers, in particular creating a need and therefore opportunities for continuing professional development (CPD) for existing staff. A traditional approach to that challenge might be to focus on ICT competences of individual teachers, but the sheer magnitude of the challenge --the number of teachers requiring training-- forces us to consider alternate strategic options. What role could education providers play in looking at themselves as carriers of the required ICT-in-education competences?
