Abstract: This presentation focuses on integration of required Twitter participation into an online, graduate-level educational research methods course. Qualitative analysis of student tweets resulted in four major themes, Learner Interactions with Instructor and Peers, Relationship with Educational Research Content, Sharing of Resources, and Social Media Interface and Management. These themes reflect how the required use of Twitter in this online course resulted in multiple opportunities for learner engagement. It is instructor’s hope that integration of social media tools like Twitter into online instruction will enrich and enhance students’ learning experience and ultimately translate into greater interest in and understanding of research methods.
