Preparing for Next Generation Science Standards Implementation with English Language Instructional Strategies and Digital Applications

This study investigates K-6 California teachers’ common approaches and strategies needed to engage English Learners (EL) in their Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) classrooms. A mix methods approach is planned for this proposed study to quantify teachers’ perceptions with descriptive methodology from California teachers as they prepare to teach NGSS curriculum for the first time. The findings of this study will make recommendations to support teachers and their students implementing new NGSS curricular programs, professional development and digital resources, including educational innovations and digital applications.
