Using Collaborative Agent-based Modeling to Explore Complex Phenomena in Pre- and In-service Teacher Education

Abstract: This poster investigates in-service and pre-service teachers’ abilities to utilize, implement, and enact a participatory agent-based modeling program using Group-based Cloud Computing (GbCC). Using design-based implementation research with one in-service and eight pre-service teachers, we examine participatory learning and teacher capacity building. By implementing models with pre- and in-service teachers, we hope to (a) make adjustments to the GbCC learning technologies, and (b) develop more informed and aligned pedagogies for teaching in socially-mediated and generative learning environments.
