Professional Development for Middle School Teachers to Promote Computational Thinking for Populations Underrepresented in STEM Fields
Brief Paper
ID: 52617
Abstract: This paper describes a pilot study of a professional development (PD) program for middle school teachers. The PD aims to assist educators with introducing computational thinking to their students using a custom programming tool and website that allows students to program video games using Python and play them on a virtual skyscraper. The design and development of technology and PD for computational thinking is an under-researched area, and this case study demonstrates one approach for creating effective training for teachers.
