Abstract: This paper highlights the research results of Digital Storytelling Contests (DISTCO) PBL 2017. Due to the lack of current research on the Project-Based-Learning (PBL) with Digital Storytelling approach, a new project was developed based on the experiences of DISTCO. Digital stories were accepted online through http://www.distco.org/PBL. Specifically, this paper will highlight how students responded to PBL with digital storytelling approach in the classroom, what they hoped to gain by using digital stories in PBL projects, whether digital stories helped students to prepare for the standardized state assessment tests, students’ beliefs and observations on the impacts of digital storytelling on their learning and 21st century skills. In addition, students’ perspectives on using digital stories in the classroom, the motivational factors for using digital stories, students’ preferred content areas, grade level and gender preferences in the use of digital storytelling will be discussed.
