Abstract: Many P-12 schools are embracing STEM education, but the “E” in STEM is often underdeveloped or ignored altogether One reason for the relative absence of engineering in schools is teachers’ lack of familiarity with engineering and lack of confidence in the underlying disciplines of math and science Recent research found that implementing engineering and computing lessons, even at a very rudimentary level, can lead to an increase in teacher’s self-efficacy for those subjects The Engineering Lessons Project partners pre-service teachers and undergraduate engineering students at a Virginia university to collaboratively design and deliver engineering lessons to elementary school students at ...
