Abstract: Computational thinking can be used to develop a new set of problem solving strategies that will be needed to tackle today’s complex issues in a digital age Authentic experiences in real world scenarios, or PBL's, are effective in teaching computational thinking in STEM environments Our project explored how girl's, in Title 1 elementary and middle schools, learned coding and cryptography using computational thinking as an approach to learning The study also explored how girls' perceived coding and cryptography as viable careers related to mathematics for girls and women
