Abstract: Microcredentials are gaining traction in higher education At the 2017 National Technology Leadership Summit in Washington, DC, one strand revolved around the use and value of microcredentials This panel will share experienced from the field as well as update the progress on an ambitious undertaken at NTLS to create a microcredentialing system for professional development around technology and teacher education at conferences This is a critical junction to examine microcredentials as EdSurge has declared, "2017 could be 'The Year of the Microcredential'" Microcredentials have the potential to transform education, and the panelists will share their experiences from four institutions, Brigham Young University, George Mason University, the University of Central Florida, and Georgia State University In each case, microcredentials have been deployed with different goals and varied degrees of success
