Wikispaces as a Platform for Pre-Service Teachers to Share Standards-Based Mathematics Tasks

Abstract: How can teacher educators prepare pre-service middle and secondary teachers to select and write standards-based mathematics tasks? This paper describes a project employed by a teacher educator in a content for teaching mathematics course The project required pre-service teachers to find and write high-level cognitive demand tasks that aligned to content standards Wikispaces provided a useful technological platform to not only document mathematics tasks, but also create a permanent resource of tasks to be shared among prospective teachers entering the teaching profession Project details along with student reactions to the project are provided
