Abstract: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) education is a new line of inquiry for researchers, and as a result, little research exists. STEAM education is becoming a foundation for blurring the boundaries between academic silos (Conner, Karmokar & Whittington, 2015), and a transition to transdisciplinary teaching (Quigley & Herro, 2016). This presentation will discuss the experiences and lessons learned from the implementation of a Maker Project within a teacher education program. Maker Projects offer a streamlined method for teaching integrated STEAM subjects, but designing projects grounded in content presents challenges to teachers.
